Genie in the Bottle: Genie in a Bottle is a classic chemical magic trick demonstration. The trick is done by releasing a stopper from a round bottom flask that has been taped to cover the contents. After a few seconds, steam shoots up from the flask as if a “Genie” is emerging. Consistent with our philosophy of chemical magic, in this chem demo video we show how the trick is done enabling us to discuss the chemistry of the demonstration. Caution: this chemical demonstration uses 30% hydrogen peroxide, a very corrosive substance. Do not do this demonstration unless you are familiar with handling 30% hydrogen peroxide.
